Getting your Listen2Baby team together

Implementing change can be challenging

You will need a team to support you and the staff to drive through and embed any change required to support and strengthen IA practice.

Getting the right people in the right place will be key to success. Look at our Stakeholder Mapping page to help work out who you need on your team.

You will also need the support of your senior leadership team from the get go.

We recommend that your Listen2Baby team:

  • is multidisciplinary, and includes obstetricians and midwives;
  • includes two IA champions - named individuals who will co-lead and co-ordinate the work, ideally a midwife and an obstetrician.

Use a Stakeholder Mapping exercise to work out who to include, but you might like to think about:

Fetal Monitoring Lead Midwife

Fetal Monitoring Lead Obstetrician

MNVP Chair or representative

Quality Improvement Midwife

Practice Development Midwife

Digital Midwife (if using an EPR)

Birth Centre Lead/Matron or equivalent

Consultant Midwife

Community Midwifery Lead/Matron or equivalent

Anyone else you feel is relevant

Everyone on your Listen2Baby team will need to...

Be committed to improving the safety and quality of IA practice
Promote Listen2Baby within your unit and support staff in using IA

The support of a multi-disciplinary team, with commitment from the top down, will make a big difference to the effectiveness and success of Listen2Baby in your unit.
